1.if your friend used to pay for the internet then you are like to be charged or your friend but in some case they offer free internet if you get your iphone on plan or prepaid, it could be possible that you are connected to a WiFi network
2.if you use your sim card and use internet then you will get charge by t mobile unless you connect your iphone to WiFi
3.if you put your sim card in then you who ever you call or text then you will be charged on your sim card
