Well the features?

It has the original 3.5" Multi-touchscreen display. 3G support, EDGE support, WiFi, Bluetooth, and built-in GPS.

It has the iPhone OS (latest version is OS 3.1.3) and it has a 2 Megapixel camera, built-in speaker, built-in microphone, and well a hard plastic casing. A Home button, Metal volume rockers (the volume controls), ringer switch, and Sleep button.

That's pretty much it. iPhone OS is very awesome. It has an App Store with over 150,000 apps to choose from. Apps range from games to tools to just plain apps. You can play music and videos. It also has a built-in accelerometer so it detects what position it is held at (landscape or portrait in other words sideways or well straight) so it will rotate the screen automatically and has a built-in proximity sensor which will detect if your face is near the screen when on a call so it will turn off the screen so you don't accidentally touch the screen while on a call. Other things include a touch keyboard. Video recording is possible through a third-party app called qik Video or VideoRecorder. You can also browse the internet (requires an internet connection either through cellular service or WiFi). Watch YouTube videos. Lots of stuff.

Oh and the screen is capacitive so it only responds to human touch so don't worry about accidentally having it interact with anything when it's in your pocket. It's also multitouch so you can use multiple fingers with it (pinch-to-zoom feature and gaming). Multi-touch is useful in some apps like the game Tap Tap Revenge 3 where you can have two people play against each other. It's like Guitar Hero btw (I'm talking about Tap Tap Revenge)

I'm not sure if it's launched in India but it should be by now. The 3GS model is faster, has a 3MP camera, records High quality video, has Voice Control, and has a built-in digital compass (stupid but useful for apps like Yelp!). The 3GS is the same physically as the 3G. It looks the same it's just well faster and has all those features on the top plus the extras.
